HEC/News—Alcohol, Other Drug, and Violence-Related News and Information

The HEC/News service disseminates news and information related to alcohol and other drug abuse and violence (AODV) prevention on campus and in surrounding communities.

e-Digest

Subscribers receive a single e-mail every Friday containing a variety of relevant information to the field on AODV prevention for institutions of higher education (IHE). Included is:

  • From the Center - New Center publications, This Week! Features, Prevention Updates, Webinars, Online Trainings, and Training Institutes
  • Announcements from the Field - Upcoming conferences and events, new resources and publications, and job opportunities in the AODV prevention field
  • The Latest Research - The latest campus-based AODV prevention research, with a special focus on the scope of the problem and promising strategies and interventions
  • Links to Campus Press Watch (college and university press accounts of AODV issues on their own campuses) and Recent News Articles (news reports featuring college AODV issues in the mainstream press)
  • Alerts: Occasional notices or announcements from the U.S. Department of Education

Catalyst

The Catalyst mailing list provides subscribers with advanced notice of the release of the Catalyst publication. The Higher Education Center publishes its online newsletter, Catalyst, as a vehicle for news of the latest developments in the prevention of campus-based alcohol and other drug abuse and violent behavior (AODV). Catalyst is published three times a year, and each issue focuses on a particular theme relating to campus AODV prevention. In addition, each issue includes information and news from The Network Addressing Collegiate Alcohol and Other Drug Issues.

Prevention Updates

The Center creates Prevention Updates on a monthly basis to provide information about current prevention topics, news, legislation, research, or innovations.
